Transforming Practices Conference 2026

Manya Julka is a third-year Psychology student at Red Deer Polytechnic with a background in early childhood education. Her experience working with children has shaped her interest in child development and research-informed practices that support healthy learning environments. Through an Applied Study course at Red Deer Polytechnic, Manya combined her academic studies with professional experience by collaborating with BrightPath Child Care Center. As part of her project, she interviewed the centre’s director to gain insight into the organization’s mission, values, and approach to child development. In her presentation, Manya will share an overview of the research-based project that explored the impact of nature-based play on children’s emotional, social, and cognitive development. Her work helped the organization better understand and communicate the value of its curriculum through evidence-supported findings. Manya looks forward to contributing to conversations about innovative and research-informed approaches in early childhood education and community wellness.
